Absolutely nothing. The problem is the same thing that I described--the issue got dropped and never resolved. SF was waiting for Pred to post the screenshots of his Tortoise config but it never happened. SF closed the ticket I posted earlier.

Pred, Bunny: Would you prefer to give me rights to update the avail file so I can repro it here locally then get SF support the information they need to correct the problem? This is going to keep happening until the root issue is resolved.

In the meantime, if Bunny updates the file to his local copy then commits it with a minor change, then the avail file will be corrected in the system and you'll have the rights as assigned by Pred.

[EDIT] Correction: Bunny didn't commit the file for me to get it working, SF support manually posted it. Skalpa can apparently commit and update the avail file fine (his commit updated the avail properly whereas pred's do not), so I'm going to contact Skalpa next to see what might be different.

OK, I've reported this to SF support:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index. ... 08&group_id=1&atid=200001

Hopefully they can straighten it out.

Yay--SF support finally got the avail file updated and I'm able to commit.

Pred--We should confirm that you're able to update those admin files before we forget what's going on here. Try adding a new line to the avail file for a dummy entry, maybe something like:

avail|notreallyanyoneatall|nodir/nothing/nada

...and then we can download the nightly tarball the next day and see if it "took" or not. I'm happy to check too, just let me know when you've committed the file.

I found the problem. The avail file hasn't been updating properly. The nightly tarball shows the avail file hasn't been updated since version 1.16, where the avail,v CVS file has Pred's latest updates. I've asked Bunny to make a minor change and commit it--that should either tell us if it is a permission problem or the file is just somehow "stuck" (and then SF support would take over).

I tried that already at Pred's suggestion too. I thought it odd that I would have to import first -- and an import worked -- but I *still* couldn't checkin after modifying the files. While it's possible to strictly use import to update the module, it's not desirable and not the way CVS was intended to work.

The cvs_acls doesn't run on imports, just on commits. The "karma" is stricly a lookup to see if your name + module you're checking into pass the avail file (I downloaded the cvs_acls source, yay OSS). That's why import works but commit fails.

I have a theory of what is going on, I'm trying to confirm it now (Bunny might have to commit the avail file... maybe). Thanks for the thoughts though.

From the SourceForge.net CVS documentation:

In order to get an initial set of data in to the CVS repository, a developer will perform an "import". The import operation will create the module and populate it with the data in the current directory (when you perform the import command, you should be in the directory that contains the exact materials you want to have inside the module, not one directory up from that point)

Maybe this is why it isn't working?

Try bunny@xoops.org, that is faster then PMing him.

buennagel = bunny yes. I can also add you to the project as a developer, if that is the problem.

Thanks, but Predator already added me to the XOOPS project. I think there's something wrong with the CVS_ACLS setup (the avail file) but I can't figure out what, and SF support only points me back to Bunny.

I'll try PMing Bunny, see if he has any ideas.
